Bookish things and notebooks galore!

My love of notebooks (and all desk accessories!) prompted me to start making notebooks for friends an then to start a small online shop selling just notebooks.  I quickly outgrew that but still have a strong affection for my first love - Notebooks!

I remember during my growing up years, my mom kept what she called her “Daybook” on a table under the wall phone in the kitchen. We're talking Mad Men Era here. She got a new one every year for Christmas and started fresh on January 1. I recently dug some out of storage and started reading with 1962, the year I was 9. She wrote mostly about flowers she was planting, seeds she had ordered and what plants were doing well in sun or shade. But she also wrote about me. One of the first notes I saw was, “Took Margaret shopping. Bought 2 new dresses, a slip and play clothes.” Just those sentences brought back such a flood of lovely memories. Does anyone wear slips anymore? Or use the phrase “play clothes”? The first page in that year’s daybook was,” I am so proud of my new journal and new fountain pen I got for Christmas.”

So here’s to you, Mom, and your love of your daybooks! I know you would have had as much fun sharing notebooks and other fun stuff online and at festivals as I do. She and I were both readers and library fans too (and I'm a librarian) so I also wanted to include other items besides notebooks that would appeal to all writers and readers!
